Circuit through Obří and Modrý Důl

Trasa

This unique area is part of the Krkonoše tundra and will enchant you with its beautiful nature.

Set off from Výrovka towards the Úpa Peat Bogs, located at an altitude of around 1,400 m. Continue along the blue trail until you reach the crossroads, where you join Kavín’s Path leading through Obří důl. This rocky and more demanding section reveals the dramatic face of the mountains – but the reward will be breathtaking views and natural scenery.

Along the way, you’ll pass the Obří důl waterworks and the hidden waterfall of Rudný brook nearby – an ideal spot for a short break. A little further on, you’ll be welcomed by Bouda in Obří důl, where you can enjoy a good meal, taste homemade lemonade, or even feed the local llamas.

From the chalet, continue along the paved path to the footbridge, from where you turn onto the yellow tourist trail into Modrý důl. This picturesque corner below Studniční hora is one of the highest inhabited settlements in the Czech Republic and is rightly considered one of the most beautiful valleys in the Krkonoše.

At the crossroads in Modrý důl, you’ll join the red trail – the so-called Iron Path, which leads you to Richter’s chalets. From there, a final steep ascent back to Výrovka awaits – but after such a journey, you definitely won’t regret the climb.

The ascent to Sněžka itself is an experience that tourists value for its uniqueness – the view from the summit is, in good weather, virtually endless, stretching all the way into Poland.
